SWIRL BRIDGE | Amsterdam Pedestrian Bridge | [AC-CA] | Competition Entry

Swirl Bridge is designed as a loop created by the motion of pedestrians and cyclists tied into a knot of different speeds. Istead of a linear connection built just to overcome a water barrier, Swirl Bridge aims to drive the people through an “experience” promenade. The sculptural shape knot into it self, aims to stimulate the attention to new perspectives of the neighborhood, while the parallel loops intend to drive pedestrians and cyclists through different speeds of perception. The program is shaped along the Swirl defining places of slower speed and bigger width.  The frames system that defines the vertical and horizontal structure is tuned according to the speed of the walk, slower for the place to stay, for the indoor spaces, faster for the path to walk to bike and to run.
